Week 10 Belly Photos

Looks like I am carrying high again.

Week 10

Already noticing a network of tiny blue veins crisscrossing my already achy breasts and (sorry) disappearing waistline? Though I may not love the new look, these veins carry the extra blood needed to nourish Baby.
Baby's now the size of a prune!
With bones and cartilage starting to form and vital organs beginning to function, Baby is making major progress. Body length will almost double in the next three weeks, and arm joints are now working. (Soon, legs will start working too.)

How far along: 10 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: -2.0 lb YEAH!!!
Pregnancy Symptoms: Frequent urination, hair loss, fatigue, bloating, swollen boobs, tearful, hungry all the time, headaches, nausea but minimal morning sickness... Yipee!
Maternity clothes: It depends on the clothing, but for the most part, I am wearing maternity pants and half maternity tops.  Mostly because I am trying to hide the bump at work.
Stretch marks: Nope

First OB Appointment

Today's OB appointment went very well.  Baby is doing great and our OB is very pleased with how I am progressing.  Baby's heart beat is also progressing.  Baby's heart beat was 143 bpm today.  We are still on target for April 23, 2012 as our due date!  Can't wait to meet Baby!!!

Week 9 Belly Photos

The baby bump sure did not take long this time around...

Week 9

As I squeeze into my jeans and struggle to button your shirt, I am trying to enjoying the gain -- after all, when was the last time putting on the pounds was totally guilt-free?
Baby's now the size of a green olive!
Our little embryo has now officially graduated to fetus-hood. Adding to the excitement, a Doppler ultrasound device might be able to pick up the beating heart. With basic physical structures in place and increasingly distinct facial features, Baby is kind of starting to look like...well...a baby!

How far along: 9 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: -1.5 lb YEAH!!!
Pregnancy Symptoms: Frequent urination, hair loss, fatigue, bloating, swollen boobs, tearful, hungry all the time, headaches, nausea but no morning sickness
Maternity clothes: Not yet, but they sure would be more comfortable
Stretch marks: Nope
Sleep: There are not enough hours in the day to get enough sleep.  I think I am laying down for 7 hours, so probably 5-6 hours of sleep
Best moment last week: Baby is still doing good
Movement: Nope
Food cravings: Ice Tea
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button (in or out): I am an innie
What I miss: Feeling good

Week 8

Playing host to an ever-growing embryo does take a toll. Heavy fatigue is setting in, along with abdominal cramping and tender breasts. I am trying to treat myself gently. Though it's not showing yet, I'm growing a little person in there!
Baby's now the size of a raspberry!
Baby is growing like mad, putting on about a millimeter every day and continuing to straighten out in the trunk. Though I can't feel it yet, baby is moving those little arms, legs, and (now only slightly) webbed fingers and toes like crazy.

How far along: 8 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: -1 lb YEAH!!!
Pregnancy Symptoms: Frequent urination, hair loss, insanely tired... Is it nap time yet?, bloating, swollen boobs, tearful, hungry all the time, headaches, nausea but no morning sickness yet - I would re-title it All Day Sickness!  Boo
Maternity clothes: Not yet, but the work wardrobe is getting very slim as I am trying to hide the "bloat bump"
Stretch marks: Nope
Sleep: In bed no later than 10, so 8 1/2 hours in bed, but unfortunately not sleeping well
Best moment last week: Seeing Baby after a very scary day
Movement: Nope
Food cravings: Do I have to eat?
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button (in or out): I am an innie
What I miss: Claritin D, oh how I miss thee
What I am looking forward to: Telling family
Milestones: Baby Has an Increase in Heart Beat - 103 to 137 in 9 days!

Baby's Levels

Comparison of Miles and Baby B HCG and Baby’s
I know that you are never supposed to compare your children, so instead, I will compare blastocysts and embryos.
 Miles:                                                  Baby:
1st Day of Cycle:                      May 13                                                July 2
Conception Date:                     June 1                                                  July 28
Pregnancy Identified:              June 17                                                August 12

HCG Readings:
#1                                            146 (PCD 15) on 6/17                          61 (PCD 14) on 8/12
#2                                            1297 (PCD 20) on 6/22                        251 (PCD 17) on 8/15
#3                                            2765 (PCD 22) on 6/24                        6603 (PCD 25) on 8/22

Ultrasound Results
#1                                            6/26 – 2 gestational sacs                       9/2 - heartbeat 103 (6 weeks)
#2                                            7/2 – 1 heartbeat (7 weeks)                  9/8 - heartbeat 147

A Wonderful Surprise

After a pretty sleepless night last night, Daddy and I were in for a good morning.  We dropped off Miles at Mr. Josh's a little early and headed to GBMC for our ultrasound.  We were the first appointment of the day, so it was very nice and calm.  The sonographer was quickly able to find Baby and identified Baby's heartbeat as 137 bpm.  Baby is just fine.  She went ahead and did an internal ultrasound as well just to get some better pictures to formally ensure that everything is ok.  By the end, we were assured that Baby is developing just fine.  Thank goodness!

Not a Fun Day at Work

This morning started out as another normal day, however around noon things went a little south. To spare the details, right after lunch I began having excessive cramping. I called Dr. Allen and she placed me on pelvic rest while ordering an ultrasound for tomorrow morning. It is going to be a long night.

Week 7

Gotta pee...again? There's a triple whammy at work here. HCG (pregnancy hormone) increases blood (and urine) flow, my more-efficient kidneys rid waste quicker since I'm now peeing for two, and that growing uterus is pressed right down on my bladder.
Baby's now the size of a blueberry!
Baby's brain -- both hemispheres! -- is growing fast, generating about one hundred new cells every minute. Arms and legs are emerging as joints start to form, and a permanent set of kidneys (baby's third!) is now in place.

How far along: 7 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 0 lbs
Pregnancy Symptoms: Frequent urination, hair loss, insanely tired, bloating, swollen boobs, cranky (I am so sorry Chris - I am not trying to be), tearful, hungry all the time, nausea but no morning sickness yet!
Maternity clothes: Not yet
Stretch marks: Nope
Sleep: Trying to get 7-8 hours a night, but falling very short of the goal
Best moment last week: Our First Ultrasound and Baby's Heart Beat!!!
Movement: Nope
Food cravings: Sweet things mostly
Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button (in or out): I am an innie
What I miss: Wine
What I am looking forward to: Telling everyone
Milestones: Baby Has a Heart Beat - 103!
